Summary: -Shannon is feeling very depressed -To the point that she's messing up work and angering her employer, Natsuhi -As punishment, Natsuhi makes her clean the entry hall, with no food allowed until every speck of dust is gone -Kanon appears, furious at Natsuhi and the other servants for throwing Shannon under the bus, but Shannon tells him not to be so harsh and he leaves -Shannon cleans the hall, taking extra care with the portrait of Beatrice, and silently prays to Beatrice for help with her dilemma: she loves George but is unable to be with him because she's furniture -Unexpectedly, the witch does appear -While Shannon is shocked to see her, Beatrice explains at length that love is the single element of the world, the one thing that composes the world -Beatrice offers to use her magic to bring success to Shannon and George's love if Shannon destroys a spirit mirror in a nearby shrine -Shannon refuses, sure that doing what a witch wants would lead to disaster -Beatrice tells her that if she doesn't receive the gift of magic, her love will definitely not be granted success; George will marry someone closer to his own station instead -While Shannon is torn and distressed, Kanon appears to defend her, telling Beatrice to disappear -Beatrice agrees to leave, but stresses that her offer is still available -And as proof that this really did happen, she leaves identical butterfly shaped bruises on both Shannon and Kanon's hands
