Rot is incurable. Even if you reach in, scrape it all out - there's nothing anyone can do. The stain remains, one so persistent even the strongest solvent imaginable couldn't cleanse it. I hoped -- I hoped to change that - because the gods can, of course, when you die - and for that "hubris" I was cursed. All of us are just playthings for the bigger fish in the pond and there's always a bigger fish. So the most I can do is save what parts of humanity I am able to. And the most I can do for you is love you, because at least that'll make the stain fade.
